The "Geotechnical Discussion of Drilled Shafts" is a course that provides a general overview of drilled shafts. The program begins with a brief discussion of shallow and deep foundations with some general information of different deep foundations. Next a discussion of drilled shafts is provided that includes different types of drilled shafts (straight shafts, belled shafts, and rock sockets), advantages and disadvantages of using drilled shafts, and general installation. The program then moves to the load testing program and down-hole visual inspections, drilled shaft inspection criteria, and processes and general drilled shaft safety during inspection. This course primarily deals with the geotechnical and testing aspects of drilled shafts.
